Vacancies in Tanoto Foundation (Basic Education Dept) – District Coordinator, Training Specialist SD, Training Specialist SMP

Tanoto Foundation, a philanthropy organization founded by Sukanto Tanoto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto, seeks outstanding talent to jointly contribute in improving education quality in Indonesia.

 

Operating since 1981, Tanoto Foundation believes that education quality accelerates equal opportunity for people to realize their potential and improve their lives. One of our main programs is supporting the government of Indonesia in improving quality of basic education. Since 2018 we have implemented PINTAR Program or Pengembangan Inovasi untuk Peningkatan Kualitas Pembelajaran in 20 districts in Provinces of Riau, Jambi, Sumatera Utara, Jawa Tengah and Kalimantan Timur. The program aims to improve student performance through improving teacher capacity in facilitating learning  and principals in exercising leadership and school management in primary and junior secondary schools.

 

Currently, we plan to expand our basic education program by replicating the best practices gained from the implementation of PINTAR Program in four (4) more districts. In addition to the existing 20 partner districts, the four new districts will be part of the Company’s new initiative to support the Ministry of Education and Culture in improving the quality of teachers and principal to improve student performance.

 

In order to deliver the above plan, we invite strong candidate to apply the following positions.   1. Training Specialist for SD level  – 4 persons (one per district)

 

Reporting Manager      :        Program Manager

Code                                  :        TSSD-T for Tegal District, Jawa Tengah

TSSD-KB for Kutai Barat District, Kalimantan Timur

TSSD-MJ for Muaro Jambi District, Jambi

TSSD-K for Kampar District, Riau

Key Responsibilities             :

  • Become familiarized with TF teacher and school management and leadership training materials (for SD level)
  • Work with local governments to select district training facilitators based on the criteria set up by the national teaching and learning team
  • Participate in the training of district facilitators  (Training of Trainers)
  • Mentor district facilitators and provide technical input for their improvement
  • Manage and support the activities at district level
    1. cluster/district level teacher, school principals and supervisor training, including maintain standardized training either training materials or training delivery
    2. teachers and principal working group activities after training
  • mentoring activities by District Facilitators in the district
  • Give feedback on the impact of school training and advice for future activities and improvements
  • Work with other project team members to optimize and strengthen the teaching and learning activities in the province (e.g. communication team,  monitoring and evaluation team)
  • Provide input to the development of communication materials at province level
  • Report the output and outcomes of the training program
  • Any other relevant assignment from Management

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in education or other related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in education program focusing in teacher training, school management and leadership development and mentoring
  • Experienced in facilitating training and training module development
  • Familiar with students performance assessment and monitoring
  • Willingness to travel to semi-remote areas of Indonesia up to 50% of his/her time
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills
  • Other Preference :
    1. Experience as teachers or principals at primary/secondary
    2. Passion and basic understanding of education best practices is preferred
    3. Good English, both spoken and in writing

Key Responsibilities     :

  1. Coordinate the implementation of program at district level:
    1. Liaise with local education authorities (Dinas Pendidikan) with regards to the selection local facilitators, partner schools, training, mentoring and monitoring and evaluation on program  progress
    2. Provide technical assistance to district government to ensure integration of program implementation with the district government strategy, budget and planning
    3. Organize training of trainers (TOT) for district facilitators and work with Training Specialist to mentor and evaluate the performance of the district facilitators
    4. Organize training for teachers and principals, and school supervisors and work with local facilitators to deliver mentoring to the trained teachers, principals and supervisors
    5. Develop report on the program progress at the level of district facilitators and schools level (output and outcome)
    6. Support the activation of the KKG and MGMP programs, including:
      1. monitoring participants’ engagement and learning progress, as well as KKG/MGMP facilitators performance
      2. Maintain good relationship with KKG/MGMP steering committee, facilitators, and all participating teachers
    7. Identify, report, and solve any issue on the field related to the implementation of program, together with Jakarta team as appropriate
  2. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)
    1. Visiting school/madrassa and KKG/MGMP periodically to monitor school/madrassa’s and groups progress.
    2. Collecting data regarding program implementation and impact assessment.
    3. Supporting monitoring implementation and evaluating team led by M&E team periodically.
  3. Coordination and Reporting
    1. Report program’s progress periodically to Program Manager and relevant stakeholders
    2. Report program’s financial utilization after each activity has been completed to Program Manager.
    3. Providing inputs and feedbacks to Program Manager and Management to improve program implementation and achieving targeted impact.
  1. Any other task requested by Management

 

Qualifications                 :

  • Bachelors Degree or similar qualification
  • 3-5 years experience of working with districts government institutions and/or schools
  • Proven ability to manage a program of activities at district level
  • Good understanding of Indonesian education system and best practices in teachers’ professional development
  • Ability to work reliably and independently without supervision
  • Works well in multi-cultural environments, with high integrity and responsibilities
  • Good computer literacy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skill
